My Journey
I believe I found my calling in the world of finance, and it has been a deeply rewarding career.
Here’s my personal story. My Dad was a banker, I graduated with a college degree in Finance and Economics, was immediately hired by a prestigious insurance company analyzing statistical measures of risk and moved onto helping individual investors plan and invest to reach their financial goals.
I've learned a lot in the financial world, scholastically as well as through providing financial guidance to individuals. It's been a long and enjoyable journey, full of exploration, learning and applying my experience to helping others reach their financial goals.
My investment service journey included becoming a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), which allowed me to help guide investors with their stock growth and income investments, tax-efficient strategies, estate planning to retirement and risk management.
But overall, I’ve found that the best teachers are Black Swan events.
The toughest teacher was when the Great Financial Crisis hit in 2008, causing the S&P 500 index to collapse by nearly half. This period really underscored for me where traditional investment strategies in general, could benefit from more dynamic approaches. It highlighted the critical importance of dynamic risk management and adaptable investment approaches for long-term investor success.
That experience was a profound eye-opener. It spurred me to dive much deeper, beyond conventional wisdom and static approaches, to understand how the stock market really worked. I wasn't interested in what journalists on TV were saying, but in what was genuinely happening beneath the surface, where, in my opinion, it truly matters. I realized my CFP® background, while strong in planning, needed additional technical insights to identify how markets transition from periods of opportunity to periods of risk.
I continuously self-educate by devouring books written by some of the best minds in the business of investments. From "Market Wizards" to John Murphy's and Martin Pring's works on technical analysis, you name it, I’ve likely read it. I’ve studied price behavior, learning how to identify important shifts in asset classes and sectors, understanding changes in investor behavior, and risk management and position sizing.
Formal education and certifications are incredibly valuable, but I've found that the wisdom gained from experiencing multiple bull and bear market cycles firsthand offers a crucial complement to academic knowledge. Those experiences offer invaluable insights into how markets operate, and they've been instrumental in refining my own process, helping me understand what approaches have proven more resilient or effective in different conditions.
As the great Yogi Berra once said, "When you come to a fork in the road, take it". For me, that fork led to founding Asset-Wise Analytics. That is why I’m dedicated to helping individual investors pursue their growth objectives while actively managing risk associated with their capital.
At the very core of Asset-Wise, we integrate the active study of price behavior in global markets, drawing upon the principles of technical analysis, among other analytical tools. We believe that by seeking to understand the direction of price and the flow of money across markets, alongside other key factors, we can aim to help clients better position their capital in pursuit of their growth or protection objectives. We are committed to understanding your financial goals and working diligently with you to pursue them.
